WWE superstar Jinder Mahal has fired back at AEW President Tony Khan, addressing the recent criticisms surrounding his booking and the subsequent drama that unfolded online. After Tony Khan questioned Mahal's place in the World Heavyweight Championship match against Seth Rollins, Mahal responded weeks later in an interview when asked about how he took those comments personally. Caught up in a war between AEW and WWE, the united shot at Mahal gained him a ton of support.

Khan's original tweets was in response to the USA network poking fun at AEW's ranking system and booking style. Khan took it personally and then fired back, suggesting giving Mahal a title shot after not winning a singles match in over a year was the real booking crime. The exchange adds fuel to the ongoing war of words between WWE and AEW, with Mahal not shying away from the controversy.

In a surprise to no one, AEW President Tony Khan is mad at WWE again, this time over Jinder Mahal.

Choosing to stay in character, while speaking with the Gorilla Position podcast, he said:

“I think Tony Khan is forgetting I’m the Modern Day Maharaja, former WWE Champion, and being a former WWE Champion, I should be number one contender anytime I want.

“The Royal Rumble happened a week after that. If you notice, I wasn’t in it because I didn’t feel there was a need. The Modern Day Maharaja wants a title match, he can just get one. It’s okay.

“Overall, it’s great. It caused a lot of buzz, and I appreciate the competition because it makes everybody better.”

Mahal did acknowledge that the controversy generated substantial buzz, ultimately benefiting both promotions. For himself, he had two of the biggest weeks in the last few years in his career, so all the talk and controversy were good for him.

Mahal Hasn't Done Much Since, But He's A Great Asset

The buzz didn't last and Mahal has been used sparingly since. Meanwhile, during his match, Seth Rollins was injured and sidelined with a grade 2 tear of his MCL and a partially torn medial meniscus. There were questions about whether he'd be available for WrestleMania 40. He will be.

Despite past fan disapproval of Jinder Mahal's WWE Championship run in 2017, the wrestler has excelled as a heel, demonstrating dedication and resilience throughout his WWE journey. He's the ultimate hand, being available for any type of angle. From small matches, to being a manager, to running short-term storylines with The Rock and Seth Rollins, there's not much Jindre Mahal can't do. Triple H has praised Mahal for his work ethic, highlighting his contributions to the wrestling industry.
